RAMP (Regional Assistance and Mentoring Programme)

Workshops and live
demonstrations are part and parcel of the education programmes conducted by the
College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka. However due to logistical and other reasons,
many of these are centered around the main cities of
the country. The intention of this new programme is to take the training to the
hospital environment where the regional surgeons are currently practicing. The
objective being to and teach
new operative surgery and endoscopic procedures to make them competent in these
surgical skills and boost their confidence. Workshops
of this nature will not carry a financial burden to the College except
the opportunity costs of resource persons.
The first
workshop of this nature was held on the 23rd of February from 8 am till 6 pm at
the G.H Ratnapura with the participation of six
consultant surgeons and two senior registrars from Uva
province. Dr. E.A.D. Udayakumara, visiting surgeon of Rathnapura organized the event. Dr
KL Ferenando and Dr Sumudu Kumarage were the resource
persons involved in conducting this programme.
