The Health Service in Sri Lanka, in the Government and Private sector, provides a comprehensive surgical care to patients in this country. With a membership of over 300 members, the College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka is very prominently involved in delivering this invaluable service. [Stats from selected hospitals]
While being involved with the delivery of this service the College plays a pivotal role in upgrading the standards of the service delivered by surgeons in Sri Lanka. This is by means of:
The College of Surgeons moved into their new premises donated by the late Dr Noel and Nora Bathalomeuz in 2003 and we began to improve our training facilities by building a skills centre for training and a lecture hall. Through several fund raising events we managed to raise funds and complete the building. The training centre needs laparoscopic training simulators, equipment for video conferencing and telemedicine. This will provide a centre for regular conduct of lectures, workshops and training programmes. Also it could serve as a fund generating project providing sustainability for the College.
Contributions can be made directly to the College with the cheques drawn in favour of College of Surgeons of Sri Lanka.
